Overview
NewsCY is a news aggregator app for Cyprus. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Data We Collect
NewsCY does not require user accounts. We collect no personal identifiable information (PII).
We use Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage statistics only. This includes aggregate data such as screen views and feature usage — no names, emails, or contact information are ever collected.
Push Notifications
If you opt in to push notifications, your device token is used solely to deliver the notifications you requested (breaking news, sports alerts). This token is not shared with third parties and is not linked to any personal data.
RSS Content
News articles are fetched from publicly available RSS feeds and displayed with full source attribution. We do not store article content beyond standard caching TTLs.
AI Translation
Article translations are performed in-transit and are not stored on external servers beyond the cache TTL. No article text is used to train AI models.
Cookies & Website Analytics
This website uses anonymous analytics to understand visitor traffic. No personally identifiable cookies are set. We comply with GDPR by minimising the data footprint of this site.
Third-Party Services
- Firebase Analytics — anonymous usage data (Google)
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — opt-in push notifications (Google)
Both services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
Anonymous analytics data is retained for 14 months per Firebase defaults. Push notification tokens are deleted when you uninstall the app or revoke notification permission.
Your Rights (GDPR)
As we collect no PII, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions, contact us at the address below.
